  • Why use Flash Trash?
At Flash Trash, we take pride in being a locally-owned and operated garbage collection service, deeply rooted in the community of Citrus County. As residents of this very place we call home, our family is committed to serving our fellow community members with dedication and care. Back in the late winter of 2020, we recognized a growing need as corporate garbage collectors faced delays and challenges. It was at this pivotal moment that we chose to become part of the solution. Initially, our endeavor was a community outreach project, and we served many areas at a cost that reflected the residents' needs when other trash collection services fell short. As our business expanded, we adjusted our prices to establish a sustainable business model that aligns with the demands of our current economy. While our growth continues, our focus has now shifted towards creating an industry-disrupting work environment and becoming a valuable community partner. We are dedicated to meeting the specific needs of our local residents here in Citrus County, striving to go beyond the traditional notions of garbage collection. At Flash Trash, we firmly believe in the power of kindness, delivering our services with genuine smiles, and fostering a positive work environment. We understand that exceptional customer service goes hand in hand with creating a strong sense of community. By choosing us, you not only support a local business but also contribute to a company that prioritizes the well-being of its employees and actively engages in community initiatives. Experience the difference of Flash Trash, where service meets kindness, and together we make our community cleaner, happier, and stronger.

  • How much trash can I put out and when is it collected?
At Flash Trash, our standard plan, customers to have up to two 96-gallon trash cans or their equivalent, which equates to approximately 200 gallons of household trash, once per week on your scheduled collection day. We also offer plans for 100 gallons of trash collection weekly. Please call for more details as those prices to vary by area. To help us ensure efficient collection and maintain the cleanliness of our service, we kindly request that all cardboard materials be broken down and placed beside the trash cans or inside the waste container. Additionally, we kindly ask that you bag and tie your trash. These precautions are in place to prioritize the safety of our Flash Trash teams, especially given the increased prevalence of illnesses. By bagging your trash, we minimize potential contact with your garbage, promoting a safer environment for everyone. Should you require more than the allowed limit of two 96-gallon containers, we encourage you to give us a call. Our team will be happy to provide you with a custom quote tailored to your specific needs.
  • Is there a certain time I should expect my trash collection?
Our collection times may vary due to factors such as the size of our operation, the addition of new routes, route optimization for efficiency, and the onboarding of new team members. As a result, it is best to have your trash ready for collection the NIGHT BEFORE your scheduled pickup day. To ensure that your garbage is collected in a timely manner, we kindly request that you have your trash curbside the night before your scheduled pickup day. Our trucks start their routes early, so having your trash out the night before prevents any potential oversights caused by late alarms or time constraints. This proactive approach ensures that you won't miss your trash collection day. Rest assured that we strive to collect your garbage by 7:00 p.m. on your scheduled day.

In an effort to promote sustainable practices, we strongly encourage residents of Citrus County to consider composting their yard waste. • Sugarmill Residents
We are delighted to serve the Sugarmill Woods community. Below, you will find answers to some of the most common questions specific to Sugarmill Woods. We continue to offer Valet and Side Door collection services for customers who have included them in their plan. Please note that there is an additional service charge associated with Valet or Side Door service. What is the difference between Side-Door and Valet service? Side-Door Service: With Side-Door Service, our team will collect your garbage from your garage side door and place the trash cans at the end of your driveway for pickup. Valet Service: This option is exclusively available in Sugarmill Woods. With Valet Service, we collect your trash cans from the side door and return them to the side door after collection. In-Ground Bins: While we do prefer containers with wheels and handles, we will collect from the inground bins. Trash must be bagged, and within a reasonable weight, no exceptions. Un-bagged trash, or heavy bags inside the bins, will not be collected. This decision has been made to ensure the safety of our team members.
  • Do you offer discounts on your services?
Absolutely! At Flash Trash, we believe in making waste management affordable and accessible for everyone. We offer various discount programs to cater to different groups within our community. For small communities and homeowners associations (HOAs) seeking cost-saving options, we have developed a unique co-op program called "Hello Neighbor". This innovative program allows communities to join together and benefit from tiered pricing, which means the more households that participate within about an 1/8 mile cluster or street, the greater the savings for each member of the community. At Flash Trash, we are dedicated to supporting the well-being of our community through our Flash Cares program. This initiative is designed to provide assistance to residents who may require additional support with their garbage collection bill. We understand the importance of supporting those who have served and contributed to our community, which is why we also extend special discounts to veterans and church pastors as a token of our appreciation. If you are a veteran or a church pastor, we encourage you to reach out to us directly or submit a contact form to discuss the exclusive service discounts that have been tailored specifically for you. Alongside our community-focused Flash Cares program, these discounts reflect our commitment to making waste management services affordable and accessible while honoring the contributions of individuals who have dedicated themselves to serving others. Please reach out to our team either by phone or through our online contact form to explore the discount options applicable to your specific situation. We look forward to serving you and finding the best way to meet your waste management needs while keeping costs within your budget.

  • What is considered Hazardous Waste and IS NOT allowed in garbage collection?
The State of Florida defines household hazardous waste (HHW) as something that is ignitable (flammable), corrosive, reactive or toxic. Some examples of HHW are: Car batteries Computer Batteries Fluorescent bulbs Gasoline Household cleaners Motor oils Paint Pesticides Pool chemicals Propane tanks And some other items The characteristic these items all have is that they are dangerous to people if they are exposed to them. According to the DEP, these materials can contaminate our drinking water and have long term health effects. For this reason, every county in Florida, including Citrus County, has a household hazardous waste program. Find the Citrus County Hazardous Waste Program Here If these items are placed out with your household collection we will leave them curbside.
  • Why did my bill increase?
We understand your concerns about the price increase on June 1, 2023. For many decades, garbage collection was a very affordable service. In recent years prices have increased on all of our consumables (truck parts, oil, tires, diesel, etc), labor (those guys who work so hard out on the road), insurances (truck, worker's comp, liability, cyber, ..ouch!), Equipment costs (a new truck is over $300,000), and rents; yet we try to remain as affordable as possible for residents in Citrus County. We understand that changes in pricing can be unexpected and may raise questions about the value of our service, but this increase is so we can maintain the value of service we provide to the customer and sustain a solid labor force that shows up for work and is ready to hustle, each and every day. Garbage can be a real grind, and it takes serious grit to perform the job and maintain the pace throughout the day. Our team members are among the top premium wage earners for their positions in Citrus County because we also care about our team, and them earning a living wage while working hard to serve Citrus County matters! We take great pride in providing a solid waste collection service to our community. We are not "another" garbage company. We are here to be a positive impact on the community, to our team, and to the families we serve. As a family-owned company, who started as a small neighborhood project, we operate solely on organic cash flow. This means we have no investors. It also means we have no one to answer to except the community and community leaders. We make decisions as a family and as a team. Every ounce of feedback from customers, the community and team members matter! Your voice is heard with our company! It is our hope that as more customers sign up we can reduce your rates! There is savings in density! Check out our Hello Neighbor program that starts at $22/mo for anyone looking to start a Co-Op in their area. Steve Seabolt
